The HIPPY program promotes settlement and integration for newcomer parents, their children, and families. By providing a parent-led pre-school curriculum with the support of peer Home Visitors, the program aims to help parents prepare their children for success in the Canadian school system and increase social inclusion through group meetings.

Services include:
• Weekly in-home delivery of curriculum and training with a Home Visitor for 30 weeks
• Free materials, books, activity packets, and supplies
• Group meetings for building family social networks and developing skills
• Newcomer support to help reduce language and cultural barriers

Land Acknowledgement
The YMCA of Cumberland would like to acknowledge that we are located on the ancestral, unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people in what’s currently called Canada. The Peace and Friendship Treaties of 1752 guarantee hunting, fishing, and land use rights for all descendants of the Indigenous signatories. We will continue to honour these terms on our journey towards reconciliation. We acknowledge that we are all Treaty people, and have a shared responsibility to respect and protect the territory of Turtle Island.
