COVID-19 Update Regarding YMCA Programs and Facilities

As a charity, the YMCA of Cumberland serves our community in a variety of ways, such as Child Care, Community Initiatives and Health, Fitness and Aquatics programs. Our YMCA is taking necessary steps to respond to COVID-19 across all programs. The health of our members, staff, volunteers and community is a top priority.

We are following the advice of Provincial Government in announcing how this impacts the following:

YMCA Child Care and Afterschool Programs:
Programs and services for children 6 months to 12 years will be operative as normal until 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020. As a directive of the Nova Scotia Government, our licensed Child Care will not be operating after this time with plans to resume on April 6, 2020.

March Break Camps are cancelled, there will be a Y Day for school aged children on Monday, March 16 only.

Health, Fitness & Aquatics:
As of 10:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020, all health, fitness and aquatics programming will be paused with plans to resume on April 6, 2020. This includes closure of the wellness centre, gymnasium and pool. All memberships will be placed on hold at this time and automatic payments will be stopped.

Community Support:
As a priority service, the Homelessness Prevention and Outreach Program will continue to serve our community. Due to no facility access, those requiring services are asked to contact 902-669-0005 or email alison.lair@cumberland.ymca.ca

Community Kitchen:
The community kitchen will be paused during this time as the building will be closed.
During this time, we ask anyone who has travelled internationally within the past 14 days to refrain from entering the building.

The building will be closed to public as of 10:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020.
